THE INN

Streetscape in front of Inn

Originally, the offices and waiting room for the Northwest Improvement Company’s local dentist, The Spruce Moose Inn is a charming, tiny, European style inn. Quiet and cozy, this hidden treasure, located in the heart of historic downtown Roslyn, Washington is something you won’t want to miss!

Three rooms share two bathrooms and a kitchenette. A common area boasts local history, town and trail maps, county event calendars, as well as family games.

The three rooms sleep ten. Renting the entire Inn offers a great space for a family reunion, a crafting or company retreat, or temporary local housing for out-of-town work crews with nightly, weekly, or monthly rates. Close to Suncadia wedding events, the Spruce Moose Inn provides comfortable, affordable rooms for family and guests.

Just below the Inn is the Red Bird Café where you will find your morning brew of Batdorf and Bronson coffee and scrumptous breakfast specialties. If you stay through lunch you will discover why this little café was rated among the top fifteen sandwich shops in the state.

The Inn has a strict non-smoking and no-pets policy.

Thanks SO MUCH to John & Kate! The Spruce Moose was great! I loved that my room was right across the street from The Brick, Roslyn Cafe, KBHR, Ruth-Anne's Store, Village Pizza & Dr. Fleischman's office....yes, I'm a Northern Exposure nerd. My room was comfortable and just as I expected. I opened my windows and took in the sweet mountain air. I went downstairs to The Red Bird Cafe for a sandwich- excellent! This entire experience for me was paramount. Kate and I had a great conversation about Roslyn and all its quirky characters....even today. Thanks again, you two, for a wonderful time.

Great response time from John. We were coming back from a long weekend in eastern Washington and needed a day to relax before heading back to Seattle. Roslyn is a cute little town with an interesting history, we lucked out and were able to rent a room at the Spruce Moose. We ran into John while checking in. He was very friendly and gave us the back story of the inn and building. Great private room, kitchenette, and all around feel. Will definitely be back! There are 3 different rooms for rent which we found out can sleep a total of 10 people. What a great way to have a family trip in such a unique and quaint town. Thanks again John!

John was a great host and very accommodating to a traveler that didn't know the area. I'd highly recommend staying there. Certainly an old world charm and simplicity. The cafe downstairs is excellent and so convenient!

This little inn was PERFECT for my late night arrival after a wedding - I will be back for a longer stay with friends soon, that's for sure!

We LOVED our stay at the Spruce Moose and instantly felt at home.. The little touches went a long way, air con and fan was on in the room (it was a HOT day!) upon arrival, super soft dressing gowns and towels, beautiful vintage furniture, clean and light-filled bathroom and great quirky medical clinic features. Check in was easy via the code lock system and we enjoyed coming and going as we pleased.. The view of the Main Street was a particularly special highlight for a huge Northern Exposure fan like myself! We highly recommend this treasure in Roslyn, it was a magical experience!

This place was so clean and the hosts were very accommodating for an early arrival. The suite is bigger than what the photos lead to believe. The location is perfect. It's literally a one minute walk from your bedroom to downtown Roslyn. Great place to stay on your own or have friends/family rent the neighboring rooms.

Better then expected! We visit Roslyn about twice a year and this was our first chance to stay at The Moose. Super clean and huge room! I followed the instructions as per our email, and never had to contact the host. Excellent location, and even better bathrooms. We will be staying at The Moose every chance we get!

I've been fortunate enough to rent all over the world. John was hands-down the most accommodating person I've ever dealt with. Staying in Roslyn again = staying here.

Roslyn is a vibrant little community of approximately 900 people set in the Cascade mountain range eighty miles east of Seattle.

Roslyn is known for many things, but most significant are:

  • Its spectacular outdoors environment, and its access to the Alpine Wilderness area.
  • Its history as a vibrant, turn of the century, coal mining town.
  • Its reputation as a setting for movies and television programs, including Northern Exposure, The Runner Stumbles and most recently the Amazon Prime pilot for the Ridley Scott series Man In The High Castle.
Staying at the Spruce Moose Inn situates you across the street from the Northern Exposure KBHR set where you would have heard “Chris in the Morning” during the six year run of this program. (You might still catch some of these broadcasts on KBHR.net. Check it out!) Next door to KBHR you’ll find Fused, where you can easily spend the day designing your own glass plate, jewelry or Christmas ornament. Or stop in at Hope Gallery and shop for local arts and crafts. Across the street you’ll find The Kitchen Sink, known as the Sur La Table of Kittitas County.

On the next corner you will find the World Famous Brick Saloon, the oldest continuously operating saloon in the state of Washington. If you are here in March you might catch the annual boat race in the Brick’s, still flowing, brass spittoon. Right next door to the Spruce Moose Inn, you’ll find the award winning Roslyn Candy Company where you can pick up a decadent truffle or a bag of old fashioned candies.
